What Matters Most in This Moment in Politics

Just days away from one of the most pivotal midterm elections in recent memory, renowned political analyst Amy Walter leads a deep dive into the hot-button issues driving voters to the polls, as well as the key races that will determine the battle for control of the U.S. Senate when all is said and done. With her finger on the pulse of what’s going on in Washington and why, Walter goes beyond the headlines to share nonpartisan, data-driven insights on how the races in New York, Pennsylvania, and other battleground states might play out, while anticipating the potential outcomes of various election scenarios on the economy, housing, social issues, and future policy and legislation decisions.

Economic and Market Outlook: It All Depends on Your Time Horizon
The presentation looks at the short and long-term economic & investment implications of the COVID-19 pandemic. The strength of businesses and consumers going into the crisis, along with unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus, surprised in terms of America’s speed of economic and profits recovery. Businesses and consumers flush with cash resulted in supply constraints and inflation which hasn’t been seen for decades. Job openings remain at all-time record highs, yet consumer confidence is at record lows. Markets worry that the Federal Reserve will tighten too aggressively, driving the economy into a recession. Indeed, the global economy appears set to enter a synchronous recession, a rare occurrence. Modern Monetary Theory has become policy, with major implications. Finally, the presentation looks at US politics; and demographics, with the massive Millennial generation reaching their prime productivity, earnings and spending years. The future may be challenging or bright, but it will be interesting!

The best strategy is done from the future backwards. What will banking (and banks) look like 10 years from now? Will the value of your charter increase or diminish over the short-, mid-, and long term? Will ongoing shifts in the nature of money be good or bad for banks and bank customers? How will regulation, compliance and exams change? Join Lee Wetherington for a look at the future of banking and what opportunities and threats that future presents now, soon and later.

ADAPT: Overcoming Adversity

As a one-handed athlete, some would say Jim Abbott overcame obstacles to become a standout major league baseball player. Abbott would beg to differ and say he was incredibly blessed. In order to continue to move towards our goals Abbott shares we must be willing to adapt, change, and mold ourselves to meet the challenges in our own way. Using APAPT as an acronym he will show audiences that by putting together a powerful set of words that stand alone in their significance, they also string together like a chain in an amazing way.
