Duration:  75 minutes

Course Description:  This course explores the array of products, strategies, and fund managers clients can choose.  Through indirect investment vehicles it is now easier than ever to access a wider range of asset classes.  The managers of these investments can adopt an active or passive style, and there are advantages and drawbacks to both.  In recent years, hybrid solutions have emerged and filtered down to wealth managers to offer to their private clients.  This course looks at many of these issues with a focus on the active versus fund management debate.

Audience:  Private Bankers and other relationship officers with responsibility for serving the high-net-worth clients who want to develop a deeper understanding of the nature and characteristics of private banking, opportunities to differentiate service levels, solutions that attract private banking clients, and the product mix required to sustain this profitable client segment.

Learning Objectives:  After completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Distinguish between direct and indirect methods of investing, and describe the various types of indirect investment vehicles.
  • Debate the relative merits of active and passive fund management.
