TRUTH IN LENDING ACT - REGULATION Z

Course Description: 
This course shows students how to comply with Regulation Z.  Students will learn about the conditions that led to the enactment of Regulation Z, and how to properly disclose the terms of various loan types, advertise loan rates, disclose the cost of credit, and calculate and disclose a loan's rescission period.  The course teaches students how to adhere to the technical requirements of Regulation Z, including how to present required documentation and explain terms in a way that clients will understand.  The course also covers how Regulation Z is enforced, and the penalties for non-compliance with Regulation Z.

Audience:  Any employee involved in the lending process, including mortgage, consumer and small business lenders, loan processors and loan servicers.

Learning Objectives:  After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss the purpose of Regulation Z.

  • Quote an Annual Percentage Rate (APR).

  • Present disclosure statements for different types of consumer credit.

  • Calculate and describe a Rescission Period.

  • Apply Regulation Z to specific banking job roles.
