Course Description: 
This course presents employees who participate in the hiring process with a structured process for identifying, evaluating and hiring the best candidate for a job.  Students learn to identify job requirements, measure and rate skills, and conduct an interview that is legal and useful..  Students will also learn to identify potential interview pitfalls, evaluate candidates and use reference checks.  At the end of the course, students have an opportunity to apply what they've learned in a course project.

Audience:  Any supervisor or manager who participates in the position analysis and selection and hiring of employees.

Learning Objectives:  After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify job tasks, skills and proficiency levels that make up a job analysis.

  • Prepare effective interview questions to conduct a legal, thorough interview.

  • Follow proper guidelines for conducting an interview and pre-employment tests.

  • Evaluate and select the best candidate for a position in a legal manner.

  • Select the most qualified candidate for an open position in the course project.
