The American Institute of Banking (AIB) is a continuing education curriculum for the financial services industry. More than 100,000 participants enroll annually in AIB courses, making AIB one of the largest industry-sponsored adult education programs in the world.

The AIB curriculum includes more than 100 titles on a range of banking topics including compliance, lending, management, finance, marketing, sales, and retail banking, plus core courses in accounting, supervisory and management skills, and banking fundamentals. These programs are available as stand-alone courses to meet a student's immediate needs, or as building blocks that allow a student to earn
AIB diplomas and certificates.

As your Local ABA Training Provider, the New York Bankers Association is pleased to offer a wide selection of AIB/ABA training programs and resources to meet your ongoing needs for professional development. 

AIB Online
The high quality training you've always received from AIB is available on the internet.  AIB online courses are instructor-led, include measurements of learning and are designed to increase job skills and enhance knowledge.  Thanks to today's technology, you may take an AIB course without ever having to leave your home or office. 

AIB in the Classroom
Thanks to a partnerships with local colleges, bankers may now earn AIB credit in the classroom.  Fall 2007 courses are scheduled for Rockland Community College in Suffern and Touro College Graduate School of Business  in New York City.   

ABA eLearning
ABA eLearning includes over 100 self-paced online courses in retail banking, small business, personal trust, compliance, management development and computer skills.  ABA eLearning through the ABA Knowledge Center provides you easy access to these courses, maintains a transcript of courses you’ve taken and offers tools to further your career development efforts.

AIB In-House or Self-Study Training

  • AIB/ABA Textbooks & Publications
    These tools for self study and in-bank training cover a wide variety of critical subjects in banking and financial services.  Use AIB/ABA publications to build a comprehensive reference library.

  • In-Bank Training
    Use the AIB curriculum and AIB textbooks to teach AIB in-house.  NYBA will maintain all records for you, help you find an instructor, and advise you on training paths for your employees.  Contact elegg@nyba.com to find out how you can offer AIB classes in-house.

  • AIB Self-Study Courses
    Self- study offers a flexible alternative to the traditional AIB course schedule. You may start a course whenever it is convenient for you and work at your own pace as long as you complete the work within a six month timeframe.  Upon enrolling, you will be assigned an Advisor, who will be available to answer your questions.

AIB Diplomas & Certificates
AIB diplomas and certificates are standards for the banking industry.  AIB courses may be taken as part of a prescribed program that leads to nationally recognized diplomas and certificates. 

AIB Transcripts - available ONLY for courses taken through the New York Bankers Association  (September 2002 - present)
To request an AIB transcript, please complete the AIB Transcript Request Form and send with payment to the address listed.  Please allow 2-3 weeks to process your request.
